Hey bidder bidder....

Today we went to an amish farm auction.

Usually when an amish family moves they auction off everything and start over!
A part of me thinks this would be wonderful.. ohhh to start fresh...
seeking out antique shops and sales to furnish your new home with all new treasures!
but then....
The sentimental part of me thinks... how can anyone do that?
You see, I have a hard time parting with things!
Yep... I get sentimentally attached!

Ok let me set the mood...
there is a damp chill in the air.... overcast sky! Sure looks like rain!
Cars, trucks and buggys are parked along the roads and in the fields.
The aroma of fresh baked bread, warm pies, donuts & coffee fills the air!
Lil boys with straw hats and lil girls in their dresses and bonnets running about,
horses naying in the background as the auctioneer says will ya give me 5

come on someone give me 5 dollars 5 dollars 5 dollars!
{how do they learn to talk so fast?}
The farm yard is filled with anxious people hopeing to get a bargain.
For hubby and I it's mostly a social gathering!
We get to visit with friends and meet new people,
plus kick ourselves for bidding too much or not enough
on something we had hoped to take home with us!!

I had visions of lacey curtains, dollys, teddy bears and tea parties in this sweet lil log cabin with our grandbabies,
but the bidding went too high for this gramma.
The last time I won a building at an auction it took 8 guys and 9 hours of work to get it here and set in it's place!
More about my future guest cottage awaiting its makeover to come in a future posting!!!!

I did bid on and win this set of amish made adirondac chairs!
I have always wanted a set!
Everyone asked if I was going to paint cherries on them...
Hmmmm.... maaaayyyybeeeee....... they do need a makeover! :-)

What a fun day.... wish you were here!

What a difference a day makes!

Yesterday it was 58 degrees here.
Sunny and warm.....
A REAL spring day!

You know the kinda day where you can open all the windows and doors and put a pair of shorts on and go bare foot! Ahhhhhh.....
We spent the day in the yard!

What a perfect day to clear the flower beds of last years fallen leaves!
My lil helper did a great job putting all the leaves in the basket.
{is this child labor} lol
She wanted to be a part of everything we did!
Raking, sweeping, and hauling the many baskets of leaves to the compost pile!

Oh the excitment on her face when we found this pretty patch of violas hideing under a pile of leaves!
My first flowers of the year! YAY!!!!
I love their sweet lil faces! Like mini pansys!
My mum gave me a few cuttings when we moved because she has them in every flower bed! She calls them jumping jacks.... they do jump all over!
I scattered the seeds in every flower bed with hopes that they spread like mums have!

Today it was like someone turned the heat off!
Bitter cold, shut the doors and turn the heat on....... sweatshirt weather!
What a difference a day makes!

Spring has finally come to visit our lil town!
YAY!!!!!

Today the sun was shinning bright!
The birds were singing and the weather was wonderful!
My precious granddaughter is here visiting so we spent the day outside, making sand castles and sand pies!
Oh what fun to play like a child again!

You are never too old to enjoy sand, wether it's squishing your toes in the sand, making sand castles, burying someone in the sand, writeing your name in the sand, or making sand pies!
Sand is truely magical!
Another one of Gods wonderful creations that we take for granted!

God Bless,
Dolly

Spring has Sprung and so has my Blog!!!

Welcome ... I am so excited to start this journey!
I invite you to come along with me as I share my thoughts, ideas, everyday musings, discoveries, accomplishments and collections!
I hope that you come by often, stay for a while and enjoy your visit....
The weather up here is changing slowly....This winter we got alot of snow... the most we have had here in years!

We had 10 foot piles and 3 foot drifts!
I am looking forward to the warmer weather, the smell of fresh cut grass, the birds singing, and the 100s of daffodil bulbs that I planted last fall to bloom!
Spring is my favorite time of year!
The time of new beginnings.... a new growing season, new grass, new flowers to try, new trees to plant, new baby animals being born, new projects to get done, a new coat of paint for the lawn furniture... oy my list goes on and on!!!!

Ok gals... Let the SPRING CLEANING begin!!!!!
