Old 2 New

Remember way back when
{here}
I bought this lil treasure at a family yard sale?

I fell in love with the old fabric and the curvy legs.
She sat in the front room and we used her alot!
I love foot stools, I think every chair needs a foot stool don't you?

{or do you call them ottomans?}
If you are a regular reader to my blog
you may have noticed.....
I have been on a roll.... doing make overs lately!

{see my past posts}

This little treasure has not escaped my fingers
Take a look.....

Here she is now.... in all her glory!
I decided she deserved a new winter slip cover to make her feel pretty!
{I am going to find another trim to go along the top of the fringe }
I think it still needs a lil something there.
Over all..... I love it!

A talk with God

I have been dealing with the holiday blues and decided I needed to go for a walk and talk to God today!
It was a misty foggy day but very quiet and peaceful, kind of serene day!

Up this road

And down this road and thru the woods

A funny birch tree with mushrooms up the sides!
Do you suppose that is where the fairies sit to watch the world go by?

Beautiful mosses growing here and there!

Sortof a Heart shaped tree trunk!
Y....... :-)
So many different shapes and sizes!

God is a master creator....
do you ever just stop and look around at the beauty surrounding you?
We are so very blessed and that is what I needed to remind myself.....
I am so blessed and thankful for all the family, friends and beautiful home we have, our health and children, our beautiful grand babies, and knowing that God knows whats best for me and he knows what I need and he will take care of that! I need to hand my worries over to him because he is the only one that knows what will become of them!
Pray more...worry less!

God Bless you all and I hope you have a wonderful Thanks giving!

Dolly

Chalk Boards can be Elegant

This little hall way leads from the mud room and front room into the kitchen.
That blank wall has been begging for a chalk board for a long time but I could not find anything vintage that fit the wall or purpose!
While in my daughters studio I spied this huge frame....
she used often for her photo shoots!
It fit the requirements for the perfect chalk board....
elegant YES.....huge YES, and it fit the wall! YES!

Perfect detailing.....

I got the can of spray paint out an wham bam I had a great start to the perfect chalk board!
Off to Home Depot to have my wood cut..... home again...sanding the wood and started painting first with 3 coats of primer, then 3 coats of magnetic paint {this stuff is great it turns anything into a magnetic board} then 6 coats of chalk board paint!
Wha-laaaaa.....

Hubby built a lil shelf to hold the chalk and eraser.....
Cute Cute Cute
Thank you hubby!

I am debating if I should shabby it up a bit..... rub some paint off here and there!
What do you think?
Everyone that walks by draws something on it or writes a note!
I love it.....

As many of you know I am not a huge fan of the color blue.... but,
Robins egg blue has grabbed a hold of my heart and I had to paint something in this color!
I love the combination of the cotton candy pink with the robins egg blue!

I know many of you girls whos kitchen this would look perfect in!
Cute for displaying your faux bakery treats when its not holding a real cake or cuppy cakes!

Sweet Suprise

While reading my sweet friend Karen { aka Mrs. Kwitty} blog
she was showing something she found while treasure hunting...

Imagine my surprise when I saw this beeeeeautiful picture she found!

Hubby collects vintage religious items so I am always on the hunt for something special and unique!!!

I bought this picture for him a few years ago for Christmas.
{sorry for the blurry pics... it was very sunny when I took these}

Neither of us have ever seen this print before..... it is breath taking!

{It is very difficult to get a good picture with the reflection in the glass}
I fell in love with the print and the frame and that we had never seen this one before made it even more special to us!
We have it hung above hubbys' organ in the front room!

The details of the vintage frame is amazing!
Ms. Kwitty I am glad you love the print as much as we do!

Until next time.

Dolly

Laundry room re-do

We just finished our laundry/mudroom re-do!
Come and take a peek
Here are a few before pictures

I taped off and painted the stripes a shade darker then the walls
{hubby said "I just want you to know I totally protest this"}
{He didn't want to get stuck helping me}
but he did! :-)

Remember this from my last post?
The old dresser drawer front!

Hubby added molding to the sides to cover the dove tail edges,
I painted it, shabbied it up a little bit, added 2 vintage glass door knobs, and cast iron hooks.
Now it is a great looking coat rack
I love it!

Cute little vignette....
the chippy vintage molding piece I purchased from Holly Abston awhile ago!
I added a glass knob and turned it into a hanger, love the chippy vintage frame and baby dress hanging from the drip dry hanger!

This door leads to the small guest bath!

sorry for the bad lighting...it was dark n rainy and I had to use the over head light!
The border was a last minute purchase from ebay!
I planned to use the same border I used in the front room {since they open to each other} but didn't have enough so I got on ebay searching for something to coordinate! I like it!

Got these jars from Wal-Mart.... attached vintage laundry pictures on the fronts to hold dryer sheets, powdered oxy and clothes pegs.
{click pic to enlarge}

There are 3 doors and an entry in this small room!

Thank you for visiting!
Until Next time!
