I'm just a farm girl

Its funny I was talking with a cousin whom I haven't seen in years....

and she asked about my life and what I do everyday and when I told her she laughed and said "gosh Doll you are just a farm girl now"!
It never really hit me until then {my light bulb moment} how much my life has changed!
I was born and raised in the "BIG CITY".....a city girl through and through.

Loved the fast paced life, shopping malls, city lights, the convenince of having everything right there!

Then one day I gave into hubbys desires to live on a farm {Yep I married a farm boy}
We moved from the BIG CITY to the middle of nowhere.... {Gods country}

We have a small Cottage/farm house in the woods , with a huge old red barn.


I drive a tractor, raise chickens and have a goose for a pet!
{I'd love to get a pig soon.}


We grow and can all of our veggies, make jams and jellies,
I hang my laundry on the line to dry!


No more fancy clothes, big expensive cars, keeping up with the Jones!

We live the simple life, hubby and I are very happy and feel blessed everyday!

Happy Pink Saturday

Hubby, daughter and I took a spontaneous mini vacation 2 weeks ago.

UGH....

Last week was the worst week of my life!
I was sooooo sick!
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I could not get out of bed, I slept for 3 days, I didn't even have the strength to lift my head.
Thursday hubby came in and I was hunched over looking pretty bad, he felt my arm and said I was in fire!
He proceeded to wrap ice cold cloths all over my body while I complained the whole time.
My fever finally broke and we rushed to the doctor.
I got a shot of antibiotics and a script and by sunday I was back to normal!
Well as normal as I can be! te-hee
I never want to go thru that ever again!
I think my immune system is outta wack..... it seems like whenever I get with crowds of people I catch some virus or something!
Any suggestions for building my immune system?

I have missed you all so much!

Michael Jackson...we will miss you

Its a very sad day here at Cherry Cottage.
We are mourning the loss of a great man, a super star,
The KING OF POP.
Michael Jackson!
We are 3 generation MJ fans.
It started with me..... taping every poster and snippet of The Jackson Five from the teen beat and tiger magazines all over my bedroom walls in the 70s.
I remember my friends and I swinging on the swings singing their songs as loud as we could!
Then in the 90s our oldest daughter started her love for MJ...
she still has the MJ doll santa bought her one christmas morning!
Our youngest daughter continued the MJ love and started collecting all of his Vinyls and cds.
When the news of his death reached our cottage tears were shed but when her best friend called it turned into a cry fest!
They have both been in love with Michael since they were in middle school and to this day wore his pins and listened to his music!
We will miss you Michael......
Our thoughts and prayers are with your family and children!

Happy Birthday Cameron

May 29th 2009 at 7:48 pm a prince was born.
Let me introduce to you my sixth grandbaby....
3rd grandson
Mr. Cameron

8 pounds
3 ounces
20 inches long

{meeting his momma for the first time}
It was an emergency C-section due to Camerons' heart rate decreasing with each contraction!
This was a new experience for me....
I had been with our daughter for each delivery but this was my first C-Section experience!
The miracle of birth is very intense and exciting!
I am very blessed to have been in the room thru the whole delivery and with Cameron during his first bath and meeting his momma for the first time!
Both baby and momma are doing great!

Oh it really does feel good to be home....
I took some pictures of what awaited us when we returned home!
{Nope I am not showing you the grass that was knee high and how the house looked abandoned}
These are the pretties that welcomed us with opened arms.

God is an awesome artist...
I am so blessed to be surrounded by such beauty and to have a home that reaches out and hugz me when I am feeling homesick!
