Come to our Flea Market

~~Our new business adventure~~
A little over a year ago I purchased this property.
It has a little amish house on it that we were going to fix up for our daughter and grandbabies, but plans changed and the house sits empty and the property is not being used!
Soooooooo hubby and I are going to open a Flea Market there!

** Green Acres Flea Market Gladwin **

We are excited.

There are no Flea Markets in our area....

We live in a small town surrounded by farms, lakes and alot of summer cottages. So every weekend during the summer our little town is booming with downstate weekenders!

This is why I have not been able to post as often or visit as often!

I cannot tell you how many phone calls and people I have talked to to get this rolling!
Everyone is excited... and positive!

We will have our Grand Opening May 24th and May 25th

I have ads in the local and surrounding area newspapers.... a Website and an ad on Craigs list!
Plus we have been hanging fliers anywhere and everywhere!

So far I have had a great number of booths reserved... vendors selling anything from garage sale items to handmade crafty things and antiques!

{I know I have to be very careful that I don't spend more then we make} :-)

And if all goes well...
see that barn on the right side of the picture... we will renovate it and that will be my cherry heart boutique!

Ladies I would love to hear your ideas and suggestions as to what you love about Flea Markets and what makes your experience one that makes you want to come back!

Wish us luck and if you are ever in Gladwin please come and visit!

Hugz,

Hey congratulations, how fun for you. Can't wait to see the pictures. I do have a suggestion. When people first walk in have the most incredible booths visually right there, have good smells(good pot pourri) so that their senses are bombarded in a good way when they first walk in.
You will have an incredible time!

Hi Dolly. I haven't left a comment for you in a while. Sorry!
When we lived in TX, we would go to a monthly flea market...you paid 5.00 a car to get in...but it was worth it. They had a nice tent cover area, sitting for eating and listening to music. Yes, they had local area bands play. This was nice since you really needed some shade and a place to cool down. Good luck on your venture! Wish there were some flea markets here...well, there is one but not too nice at all....pure junk! Hugs, Sharon

OH MY GOSH!
How exciting this is! My inlaws used to live in Gladwin before they moved down to Flint. Please email me and give me the directions and where you are located so I can come up and visit and shop. They DO NEED something like this up there! I love to see booths where the items are all displayed according to their color. It makes everything even more appealing. I also love to be able to nibble on snacks too! You gotta have snacks to buy while you're there. Good Luck and Hugs, Jan@daylilylane

How wonderful!! Looks like a great place...I like that you are letting everyone be a vendor, not just the "fancy" ones. That way there is something for everyone. Laurie

OH how exciting for you! I hope you have a wonderful time and experience with your new venture. I like flea markets that are homey, and well lit. Don't want to feel like there trying to squeeze every nickle out of me either . Every one likes to find a bargin now and then:)The snack suggestion is a good idea, but nothing that makes crumbs, or you'll always be sweeping. The one near my house sells sodas out of a fridge in the front of the store. Also one mans trash is anothers treasure, don't be offended if someone doesn't want to pay ( ok every one wants to haggle from time to time) what's marke as the price. I bet someone else will because it's treasure to them and they just HAVE to have it. Good Luck and again have fun. Your cherry heart deserves to have a happy adventure

Dolly what a great new adventure for you. I love flea markets in the Fall, Winter and Spring in FL but it's just too hot and sticky in the Summer for me. Many of my favorite collectibles have come from flea markets. It's always a thrill to make that great FIND when your least expecting it.

OMGosh Dolly--that is soooo exciting! Wow. Good luck with your venture...it sounds like it' gonna be a success.

I think the best flea markets are those with a little bit of everything--and they have to have something good to eat and drink while you are there. Oh, and a nice place to sit in the shade, otherwise they will just have to hit the car and go home when they get hot and tired.

I love the Cherry Heart Boutique--how wonderful!! I'm so excited for you! Best of luck!

Smiles, Karen

Shoot, I was hoping someone else would have asked this question - but it must just be me that doesn't know this - but what state do you live in? I couldn't find it on the info sheet, nor on your profile?!?? If it is anywhere near where I live - I would love to come to your flea market! Are you near Michigan? It sounds like a wonderful idea - and I love your blog always!!!

Hugs from Michigan - Diane

Hi Dolly,
your idea for a flea market sounds awesome. I love them as much as yard sales, but fun because w/the high gas prices you just park and walk in one area instead of stop/go...that is very fun and a boutique some day, who could ask for more? (well, maybe a bit...LOL) Love your flowers below on your post.
hugs, Carol

hi dolly dear
I am so thrilled for your new 'adventure'. That looks like such a lovely place for a flear market. SO much 'cooler' and softer than dirt that can blow up and make it miserable.
Food and drink and definitely shade to sit in are always welcome factors. I think also having a large variety of all sorts of booths keeps it fun and a little bit of 'something' for everyone.
Good luck in your new business. I hope it is very rewarding!!!!
