Jinxed ???

Just wondering if you believe in being Jinxed?
Is there such a thing?

I had the strangest, saddest thing happen to me...
a few days ago our friends came by and she saw Lola

{our chicken girl} and Goose, Miss Goosey, wandering about the yard...
as they do everyday!
She asked if I was worried about them being attacked by another animal...

hubby and I both said no they are fine.
You see Layla, Lola and Miss Goosey have wandered our yard

for 3 years now and have never been bothered by anything!
This morning hubby opened the coop gate so the girls can wander...

as he does everyday!
A few hours later he came back from town and asked me if Lola was ok!
I was alittle alarmed by the tone of his voice!
I looked outside, there were lots of feathers all over the walkway....
I knew instantly something was wrong!
We called her name, searched and searched

and found Lolas' body under the porch!
She had been attacked and killed by something!
I am so sad...

Lola has been part of our family for 7 years now!
She was a spoiled chicken.. seriously she thought she was human,
Hmmm maybe she was reincarnated!

God rest your soul sweet Lola...
you have brought our family much love and joy in your short life on earth!
You will be missed sweet angel!

This is Lola when she was just a few weeks old with her sisters...

Our parakeet Kiwi thought she was a chick too! :-)

These are the twins... Lola and Layla
I call them my girls!
{Our granddaughter called them chicken nuggets!}

This is our watch dog! Miss Goosey

{Our granddaughter calls her duck duck goose!}

I've had pet hens before too, I don't think people realize how much a chicken can mean to you. sorry for your loss!

Dolly I 'm so sorry to hear your news! I always worry about outside animals! In my area we are having trouble with coyotes and I fear for all the poor kitties I see walking around. Oh dear, my sympathy again, so sorry for your sadness. Lori

Hi Dolly, I just popped by to thank you for your warm welcomewords you left in my blog yesterday, when I found out what sad story happened to your hen. Ooo I'm so sorry to hear that. Knowing that other people even across the ocean feel sorry for you will hopefully cheer you up a little, not because you don't miss your hen, as we all know you do, but it gives grief and sadness just that silver lining, that you know you are not alone in difficult times. Hoping that the other animals are ok!

I have tears in my eyes...Thank you all so much for your kind words!
I am trying to accept Lolas passing!
Hubby keeps reminding me that she lived a good long life {longer then most chicknes}
He says how many chickens would peck at the door to get a treat and their momma would dig in the garden to find them worms! He said I treated her like a child and she rewarded us with many fun days!
I know I have to make peace with her passing!
I will miss her!

Hugz to you all!
Dolly

Oh Dolly! I am crying right now. I am so sorry. That's terrible and I can just feel your pain. I thought I had lost my cat for good a few days ago so I know how it feels to mourn the loss of a pet. I wish I could comfort you. I am so so sorry!

Dolly, I am so sorry about Lola! I think barred rock chickens are some of the prettiest chickens there are and Lola and Layla are just beautiful! I have some bantam chickens and I just love them, I understand how upset you must be! i don't think you are jjinxed, sometimes thngs just happen and chickens have a lot of natural enemies in wild and domestic animals.

Oh Dolly, how sad. You will certainly miss Lola. To some she may have been just a chicken but to you and yours she was family.

Oh Dolly that's just terrible!

I read your blog every chance I get, but I don't often comment. I had to let you know how sad I am that sweet chicky Lola was attacked.

She was such a lovely little hen! I know how sad you must be. My heart goes out to you.
